 Hi Everyone,

I had a chance to visit a nearby temple - Wat Bukkhalo.   I don't know the temple's history off hand, so I search on the Internet and was pleased to see that Wat Bukkalo has its own website: http://bukkhalo.com/  (I know I mislabelled the photos as Wat Bukkalo - but then that was before I saw the website ;-P)

 The information on the website says:

"วัดบุคคโล ตั้งอยู่เลขที่ 142 ถนนเจริญนคร ซอย 63 แขวงบุคคโล เขตธนบุรี กรุงเทพมหานคร สังกัดคณะสงฆ์มหานิกาย บริเวณวัดตั้งอยู่บนเนื้อที่ 7 ไร่ เป็นที่ราบลุ่มติดแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาทางด้านทิศตะวันออก นับเป็นวัดเก่าแก่มีคุณค่าทางพระพุทธศาสนา อายุกว่า 237 ปี เป็นวัดที่สร้างขึ้นในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาประมาณปี พ.ศ. 2310 ไม่ปรากฏนามผู้สร้างวัด และได้รับพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมาในปี พ.ศ.2320 ไม่ปรากฏนามเจ้าอาวาส ได้รับการบูรณะปฏิสังขรณ์ครั้งใหญ่ในรัชสมัยรัชกาลที่ 4 โดยเจ้าฟ้าหญิงอุบลวรรณา ทรงเรือทอดพระเนตรเห็นวัดบุคคโลทรุดโทรมมาก จึงทรงปฏิสังขรณ์อุโบสถและวิหาร กุฏิสงฆ์ แล้วจึงได้มีการเปลี่ยนชื่อวัดใหม่ เรียกว่า วัดอุบลวัน

 ตั้งแต่นั้นเป็นต้นมา แต่ชาวบ้านทั่วๆ ไป ยังเรียกติดปากว่าวัดบุคคโล วัดบุคคโลเป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่มีประวัติความเป็นมา อันสำคัญ เป็นที่เคารพสักการะบูชาของสาธุชนทั่วไป อาทิ หลวงพ่อแพ พระพุทธประทานพร พระพุทธชินราช หลวงพ่อพุทธโสธร หลวงพ่อวัดไร่ขิง พระสีวลีมหาลาภ พระสังกัจจายนะ พระพาคุระ พระพุทธมงคลทศพลมุนี(พระนาคปรก) ฯลฯ ประดิษฐานอยู่ ณ ศาลาจตุรมุขของวัด

 ภายในบริเวณวัดได้มี แหล่งทรัพยากรทางธรรมชาติ ซึ่งเป็นเขตอภัยทาน อันมี วังมัจฉา ซึ่งมีปลามาอาศัยอยู่ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2542 เหมาะแก่การพาลูกหลานไปพักผ่อนหย่อนใจ ให้อาหารปลา ชมปลาสวย ปลาสังกะวาด ปลาดุก นับล้านๆ ตัว ศึกษาชีวิตธรรมชาติ ของปลาเป็นการเสริมสร้างปัญญาแก่เยาวชน" http://bukkhalo.com/history.php

 

I must say that I can't agree more; the temple atmosphere is serene and unlike many famous temple, Wat Bukkhalo is not crowded.  I won't tell you that there are over hundread thousands fish around; I may think that I overexaggerate.  You've got to look at the photos themselves and tell me you are able to count!!!

This slide show contains phtographs of my trip to Cholburi in April, 2009.  There are more to Bangsaen and Pattaya beaches in Cholburi -- the seafood is great and there are several sigtseeing attractions such as the bungy jump tower, Suan Nongnuch, Mini Siam, Sataheep Naval Base, Prasart Sachadharm, etc.  In my slide show I can only show two places - the food and the atmosphere at the Sri Nuan Seafood Restaurant and the Pattaya 4 Region Floating Market.

This is a slideshow of the photographs I took on the trip to Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort on Moreton Island off Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.  These photos were taken early October 2008.  Can't quite fit all the photos in one slideshow, so I have to break them up into 3 slideshows. 

This is the third slideshow of my trip to Tangalooma. This slideshow will include some photographs of beautiful sunset and some wild dolphins getting ready to be hand-fed.  Unfortunately, there is no music accompaniment to this slideshow.
